WINOOSKI - Natalia Koehler passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the age of 82, peacefully at home after a determined battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Natalia was born in Poland on June 15, 1930, the eldest of four children. Her life was characterized by selfless caring and devotion to those around her. Due to wartime conditions, she never received much formal schooling. Throughout her life she took on a variety of employment roles in manufacturing and food service. She married her first husband and they were blessed with their only child, Irene. Her marriage ended and Natalia decided to move to France for a few years, before coming to the United States in 1962. Shortly thereafter, she married Edward Koehler, a high school English and Latin teacher. They lived happily in California for many years. Until the end of her life, Natalia was preoccupied with taking care of her grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, bargain hunting, gardening, and politics. She is survived by her daughter, Irene Polak; and grandchildren, Mark, Michael, and Lucien Thomsen. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stephen C. Gregory & Son, 472 Meadowland Drive, Suite 7, South Burlington, VT 05403, to be used at the family's discretion.
