SHELBURNE -- Today our world is a little less bright, as we have lost a truly shining star. Steven passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Nov. 8, 2014. Close friends and his family were by his side throughout his brief illness.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1958, in Burlington. He grew up in Shelburne and graduated from CVU in 1976. Steven was a very loving man who cultivated many rich friendships which he maintained over the years.
Steven was the owner of Shelburne Supermarket. A caring member of the community, he was willing to offer his support to many worthy causes. He had a powerful presence and was always quick with a smile and to say an enthusiastic hello to friends and customers shopping at the store. He deeply enjoyed talking and sharing stories.
Steven truly loved family vacations, coffee at the store with his friends, the Patriots, and all of the many cars he drove over the years.
He was very proud of and is survived by his three children, Mallory, Mandy and Michael. He is also survived by his wife and best friend, Sara (Devost) Clayton; as well as his parents and siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kathy Devost Scholarship Fund, c/o CVU High School, 369 CVU Road, Hinesburg, VT 05461; or to the Cancer Patient Support Program of Vermont, PO Box 64700, Burlington, VT 05406.
Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Stephen C. Gregory & Son, Shelburne.
