Ramona "Mona" (Perry) Ravenelle, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
She was born to the late Frank Perry and Elsie (Cota) Perry on May 11, 1929 in St. Albans, VT.
Mona will always be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and outgoing personality. Her warmth and generosity were felt by so many, including the foreign exchange students she brought into her home as well as the caregivers that came into her life, developing close friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her sunny spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Mona is survived by her cousins: Ruth (Perry) Garner, George Perry, Raymond (Shirley) Cota, Lorraine (James) Manley, Donald (Diane) Cota, Doris (George) Bergeron, Robert (Becky) Cota and Judy (Mark) Willis. She is survived by a foster-child Deborah Franks who she help raised. She is also survived by her former spouse, Bernie Ravenelle.
She was predeceased by her parents, her late husband Jim Nies, aunts, uncles and a cousin Barbara Perry Sweeney.
A note of thanks to her special cousins Ruth Garner and Mary Ann Yeatts-Peterson MD, who provided loving family presence. Her caregiver of many years Cheryl Callahan who was with her at her passing and special friends Mae and Bob Zimmer who spent countless hours with her along with Gloria Mathieu who also was a long time friend. She had a special friendship with Kyoko Davis and her family, who was one of her foreign exchange students that Mona was so fond of. Mona also had many wonderful friends at her Barlow Street Winooski Senior Residence during the 19 years she resided there.
There will be a memorial mass and an interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans in the spring.
