BURLINGTON -- Kenneth Thomas Kane, 86, died on Feb. 13, 2015, peacefully at his home.
He was born in Burlington, son of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Rayta) Kane. Ken graduated from Cathedral High School in 1947, where he was captain of the Varsity Basketball team, and played football and baseball. Ken loved playing sports and was an avid Boston Celtic fan. Ken's passion was working with kids teaching them sports. He coached basketball, baseball and hockey for numerous years in the Burlington area.
Ken worked for IBM in Essex Junction where he participated in the basketball and golf leagues until retirement in 1982. He moved to South Carolina where he enjoyed playing golf. He later moved to Delaware to live with his family, and recently moved back to Vermont, living at Pillsbury Senior Community. A special thank you goes to the team at Pillsbury for their help and support.
He is survived by his children, Tom Kane, Kimberly and her husband, Bill, Shannon, David and his wife, Cindi, Kristin, and Kevin; six grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by a son, Bruce; and sister, Elizabeth Kane.
A memorial service will be held in the spring, date and time to be announced. Arrangements are in the care of Stephen C. Gregory and Son, South Burlington.
