Gail L Sheldon, age 81 passed away Friday November 18th at Helen Porter Nursing Home in the dementia unit surrounded by her family.

She was born in Vergennes, VT the daughter to Richard and Vonda (Hallock) Sheldon.  She lost her mother as a young child and was raised by her Grandmother and Grandfather Hallock along with her aunts, uncles, brother and sisters. 

Gail graduated from Vergennes High School and Becker College.  Gail loved to travel and lived in Florida, New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont. She worked in FL for a Doctor and the Phone Company.  She worked at WPI in Wooster MA, and moved back to Vermont where she then worked at Middlebury College, R.S.V.P, and Addison County Home Health and Hospice.

She is predeceased by her two sisters Patricia Smith and Diana Parks and a nephew Jeffrey Parks and a cousin Dennis Thomas.  She leaves behind her Brother Gary Sheldon and Mary of Tennessee; Brother Keith Craig and Annie of Addison; Sister Connie Goodrich and Peter of West Ferrisburgh; Brother John Sheldon and Cathy of Monkton; Sister Noreen Sheldon of Panton;  Brother Harold Sheldon and Diane of Panton; and Brother-in-law Harvey Smith of Middlebury and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Helen Porter Nursing Home especially the Dementia Unit for the warm loving care that she received during her long stay.

Gail is a member of the Congregational Church in Vergennes, VT and held many positions in her years there and was known as Aunt Gail to many children.  The Celebration of her life will be Saturday November 25th at 11:00 am at the Congregational Church on Water Street in Vergennes. 

Donations can be made to Helen Porter Nursing Home Dementia Unit, Addison County Home Health and Hospice, or Project Independence.
