Solon Charles Burroughs, (Sol) passed away at the age of 53 on November 25, 2017 after a brave and difficult five-month struggle with cancer. Sol worked in construction most of his life, and in recent years he worked with his brother's business. He enjoyed music and spent time playing bass guitar in a band with his brothers in Louisiana. He loved fishing and was a big fan of NASCAR racing and particularly enjoyed the Dale Earnhardt years. He also, had a huge love for animals and rescued many dogs and cats that were abandoned during the cold winter months. He would bring them to his home and give them the love and care they needed. Sol leaves behind his long-time partner and best friend, Dot Busque, of Colchester, his sister, Patricia and Michael Bergeron, of Essex, his brothers Robert Burroughs, of Louisiana, Frank and Donna Burroughs, of Jericho, and John Burroughs and Diane of Jericho. He also leaves behind loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and good friends who were a big part of his life and were there for him throughout his illness. Sol is predeceased by his father and mother Francis and Vera Burroughs and his brother Joseph. Sol will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him for his great sense of humor and his selfless, giving spirit. Sol's family would like to thank all the wonderful staff from VNA Hospice for the exceptional care they gave Sol. A special thank you to Dot Busque for her love and devotion to Sol for the past 17 years and the support and care she provided throughout his illness. Also, a special thank you to Donna Burroughs for being there with Sol day and night giving him the loving care and comfort he needed at the beginning of his illness and during the final days of his life. There will be a celebration of Sol's life at the Winooski VFWon Saturday, December 16th from 1 pm - 4 pm.
