Roland Richard Bascom was united with our Lord on July 19, 2018 , surrounded by his loving family.
Roland was born March 13 , 1941 in Georgia VT , the son of the late Howard and Irene Bascom. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Roland loved his family, life, and the Boston Red Sox. Dad loved to be with family, attending outings , and being with his wife, the girls and their families. Roland never missed a Red Sox game on TV, as he loved to watch his favorite team play as often as he could.
We will miss his exuberant smile which always lit up the room, and also his witty sense of humor. He was always upbeat and a positive guide to all who knew him.
Roland is survived by his Wife and Partner of 37 years, Brenda(Shepard), of Essex, his Daughters: Tamera and Daniel King of Essex, Jan and Ricky Baker of St. George, Annette and Brian Frederick of Plattsburgh, NY, Kathleen and Joey King of Essex , Michelle and Bill LaCroix of Colchester.
He also leaves his Sister and Brother in law, Betty and Robert (Frank) Kilburn of So. Burlington, 15 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.and many nieces, nephews, and close friends and relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the VNA Hospice team, who cared for Roland at his home during his final days. In lieu of flowers , donation's can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of VT and the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Fort Ethan Allen cemetery in Colchester on Saturday 28, 2018 11 am.
