Dwight Campbell Blondin Jr. 76 of Middlesex, Vermont passed away on August 28, 2018, after a brief heart related illness, at Central Vermont Hospital. Dwight was born, October 12, 1941, in Hartford, Connecticut to Ann Cummings Blondin & Dwight Campbell Blondin Sr.
He grew up in Barre, VT, the oldest of 11 brothers & sisters. He attended Barre schools, graduating Spaulding High School in 1960. After high school, Dwight was in the Navy and reserves from 1960-1966.
After the Navy, Dwight and his family settled in the Burlington, VT area. He attended Champlain College, graduating in 1973. Shortly thereafter he secured a position at the CCTA in Burlington, as the Operations Manager. He remained at CCTA for 20 years & then continued in the transportation field in a position he was fond of helping special needs individuals learn to ride the bus. Finally, the last few years before retirement he worked at IBM is Essex, VT. It was here through a good friend he met his wife Patty and through her work at WCSU he became a substitute teacher. He especially enjoyed working with special needs students.
Dwight had an infectious smile, was extremely generous, and had a true appreciation for life and nature. He loved sports. He was an avid golfer, and loyal fan to the NY Giants & the Boston Red Sox. He was a dedicated hunter & fisherman and more often than not he got a deer each season. Dwight was a loyal Elks member for 40 plus years. Most importantly, Dwight loved spending time with his wife, daughters, family, friends & neighbors. He was adored by all and will be remembered as fun, full of personality, and a cool Dad.
Dwight is survived by his wife of 12 years Patty Blondin of Middlesex, VT and his step-daughter Michelle Roya of Morrisville, VT; 2 daughters, Kara Pillsbury & her husband Darrin of Essex Junction, VT; Erina Blondin of San Jose, CA; the mother of his 2 daughters Joann Papin; 4 grandchildren, Kendra & Taylor Pillsbury, Forrest & Brooke Scharmer; 7 siblings, Edward Blondin & his wife Marcia, Judith Dunn & her husband Gary, Stephen Blondin & his wife Joan, Kenneth Blondin, William Blondin & his wife Kathy, Susan Garcia, & Allen Blondin. A mother in law Julie Desautels; 3 sister in laws, Kathleen Fontaine & her husband Robert, Deb Peters & her husband Ed, Carol Smiley & her husband Eric as well as an aunt, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and their families.
He was predeceased by his mother Ann Cummings Blondin & father Dwight Campbell Blondin Sr; 3 siblings, Patricia Massey, Gerald Blondin & Robert Blondin; his father in-law William Desautels.

Family & friends are invited to attend Dwight’s military burial at Resurrection Park in South Burlington, VT on Thursday September 20th at 1:00 pm. Family & friends are also invited to attend a memorial and luncheon to celebrate Dwight’s life at 12:00 pm on Saturday September 22nd at the Barre Elks Club in Barre, VT.
