Linda (Stevens) Zeno died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 28th after a very short battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Linda was born on August 8, 1956 in Glens Falls NY, to William and Helen (Dubuque) Stevens. She graduated from Argyle Central School in 1974 where she was named the most athletic girl in the class. Shortly after graduation she moved to Burlington VT, where she met and married Tim Zeno on May 25, 1985.
She retired from the Chittenden / People’s United Bank after 35 years of loyal service. She worked her way up to Supervisor of Mail and Transportation. She excelled in her job and was known for her follow thru, her ability to get things done, and her larger than life personality. In 2005, they honored Linda by awarding her the prestigious President’s Pinnacle award. Her passion and huge heart was evident as she organized numerous charitable fundraisers at the bank in support of Camp Ta Kum Ta and Alex’s Lemonade.
Linda’s love of sports never wavered. One of her greatest pleasures was going to her nieces and nephews various sporting events, where her voice could always be heard in the stands. Linda was a lifelong Giants fan, even in their losing years when she lovingly referred to them as “those bums”. She loved the fall and looked forward to her annual trip with family and friends to the North East Kingdom. Linda loved to decorate for the holidays. Friends and neighbors would all turn out to see her Halloween and Christmas decorations. Her huge smile, sense of humor, and bigger than life personality will be missed by all those that loved and knew her.
Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by her beloved Boston Terrier, Ruby. Her siblings Steve Stevens (Dee), Glenn Stevens (Deb), Pam Ellis (Bub), and Sandi Stevens. Her nieces and nephews Miranda Squires (Rylan), Matt Stevens, Ashley and Dylan Ellis and her great niece and nephew Kiana and Shea Squires. She was also survived by her mother-in law Blanche Zeno, her sister/brother in-laws Bert(Tony) Lema, Mary(Denny) Sumner, Jim(Tracy) Zeno, and Sherry(Mike) Brassard. Her nieces and nephews Mike and Christopher Lema, Coleen Vieno, Sarah Zeno, Nichole Artamentko, Kristen Copas, and Michelle Haberman. Her closest and lifelong friends Roxanne Gardner and Robin Torrey, along with many other extended family members and friends.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 20th from 2-4pm at the Stephen C. Gregory Cremation Service; 472 Meadowland Dr Suite 7, South Burlington VT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Ta Kum Ta, Alex’s Lemonade, or St Jude.
