Dean Russin, 61, passed peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019 after a long battle with liver disease and despite the hard work of his outstanding physicians. In his last moments he was surrounded by many loved ones including: his wife of 31 years Ida Russin; daughter Alana Russin and her partner Sarah Carbonneau; son Giles Russin; mother Marie Salter; brothers Paul Russin and wife Laura, Rodney Russin and wife Laura; sisters Judy Longe, Susan (and Randy) Morrill, and Penny Russin; close family members and best friends.
Dean was born June 17, 1957 in Burlington, VT and grew up on Madonna Mountain. He was predeceased by his father Giles Elmer Russin in 1972; his mother-in-law Kathleen Brosseau Lehouiller in 2001; his step-father Francis “Red” Salter in 1992; his sister-in-law Donna Demars in 2017; and two brother-in-laws, Dennis Longe in 2016, and Ron Demars in 1990.
After his high school graduation, on a whim, he moved to South Carolina and Georgia for several years making lifelong connections. He returned to Vermont, reunited with Ida, and they raised their children in a home filled with love, laughter, and fun. He was a father figure to several young men, never ceasing to love, inspire, and be there for them. He was the favorite uncle of many of his nieces and nephews and best friends to some special cousins. Game night will never be the same without him.
Dean supported his family working for Poulin Drywall and then IBM. He loved his co-workers and they loved him. The Cambridge community will miss his stories and laughter. At 3:00 pm on Friday May 31, we will remember Dean with a church service at the Second Congregational Church in Jeffersonville. A celebration of life dinner reception will follow from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at The Whitcomb Farm, 199 Jericho Road, Essex, Vermont. If interested, donations may be made in Dean's name to: The Second Congregational Church, 16 Church Street, Jeffersonville, VT 05464.
