BURLINGTON, VT - Horace W. Josselyn 84, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at home in Middlebury, VT. Hemoved to EastView at MIddlebury senior retirement center in September 2018 where he spent the last 10 months of his life.
He was born 2/16/35 in South Hero, VT. The son of Edith and Kenneth Josselyn. He attended St. Michael College, followed by The Dental School of Temple University. He practiced dentistry for 40 years, first in the Navy and later opening his own private practice in Burlington, VT. Dentistry was his number one passion. Many of his colleagues would refer to him their anxious patients and he always managed to make them feel at ease. He gifted a lot of dentistry for international students from UVM, family and friends alike. He was loved by all his patients and colleagues. He retired from dentistry in 2006. He was also a member of the National Guard in VT for many years.
Horace enjoyed building, remodeling and put those skills in his dental office building and his camp in Maine, helping his children with projects in their homes. After moving into a new house on the family property on the shore of lake Champlain in South Hero, Vermont he spent much time landscaping and refinishing furniture. He enjoyed boating in the summer, often having his family over for a fun day at the lake. But overall, his greatest qualities were LOVE and HUMILITY. He loved his wife, his children, his work and his home. What a fulfilling, exquisitely, simple existence.
Horace is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Michelle; three children, Tracey Josselyn from Waterbury, Karla Henning and her husband John from South Burlington and Colin Josselyn from St. Paul, Minnesota, 3 grandchildren Jordan, Kai and Isaac. Also several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his brother Donald Josselyn.
Special thanks to Home Health and Hospice in Middlebury, and EastView at Middlebury for their support in the last four days of his life. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his whole immediate family.
